Switzerland has suffered a significant blow just hours before their Round of 16 match against Colombia in the 2026 World Cup, with young midfielder Johan Manzambi confirmed to be out due to a knee injury.

According to Swiss newspaper Blick, Manzambi sustained the injury during the final training session before the match, without any contact with teammates during the drills. An MRI later confirmed the injury, ensuring his absence against Colombia.

Manzambi's absence is a major loss for the Swiss team, as he has been impressive in the tournament, scoring three goals and providing two assists in four matches, making him one of the standout players in their journey to the knockout stages.

Switzerland's problems don't end there, as doubts also linger over the fitness of both Ruben Vargas and Gabriel So, who left the same training session early, adding to the coach's headaches ahead of the crucial encounter with Colombia.
