Former Portuguese player Ricardo Quaresma has sharply criticized the national team following their exit from the 2026 World Cup, stating that the squad has not lived up to expectations despite having a wealth of talent.

Quaresma said, "Everyone says this team is the best in Portugal's history, but on what basis? What have they achieved? We will return home disappointed."

He added that the midfield features great players and significant talent, but it performed poorly, noting that the attack showed no improvement, while he described the defense's performance as "collapsed."

The former Portuguese star concluded his remarks angrily, stating, "It's better for me to stop here, or else I will say things I will regret later."
