Pedro Porro: We Knew This, Not Thinking About USA or Belgium
Pedro Porro, the Spanish national team player, stated that his team deserved the 1-0 victory over Portugal to advance to the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, emphasizing that the match was decided by focus and teamwork.
In post-match television comments, Porro said: "We knew it was a match that would be decided by details, and we maintained our focus for the entire 90 minutes. As you can hear, my voice is tired and I still feel exhausted. Portugal is a great team, but we are very happy with the work the team put in."
Regarding the threat posed by the trio of João Félix, Rafael Leão, and Nuno Mendes, he added: "We had to stay focused throughout the match. We were aware of the great potential they have on that front, and the support from all players was a key factor. This victory is for the entire team."
Porro concluded his remarks about Spain's quarter-final opponent, saying: "We are not thinking about the USA or Belgium right now. Our focus has been and still is on ourselves, and we will enjoy this victory first, then prepare for the next match, as any opponent we face will be tough, and now it's time for recovery."
