Julian Nagelsmann has announced his departure from the Germany national team following a disappointing exit from the 2026 World Cup, confirming that the decision came after a period of reflection and consultations with close associates and officials from the German Football Association.

In his statement, he said: "Since the moment we were eliminated, I have thought a lot and consulted with people I trust personally, as well as with officials from the federation. This decision was not easy for me at all. My priority has always been the success of the team, and after this painful disappointment, I believe the national team deserves a chance for a fresh start."

The German coach added: "I would like to thank my coaching staff, the support team, and everyone at the federation who supported us. I also extend a special thanks to the players I had the honor to work with. I am also grateful to the fans who supported us and gave us confidence and energy, even in the toughest moments."

He concluded his message by saying: "I am truly sorry that we let you down and that we could not provide you with more unforgettable football nights in this tournament. You deserved much more."

It is worth noting that the German national team was eliminated from the World Cup in the Round of 32 by Paraguay on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
