Belgium has booked its place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup after defeating the United States 4-1 in the Round of 16, continuing their journey in the tournament and setting up a clash with Spain in the next round.


The Belgian team opened the scoring early in the ninth minute through Charles De Ketelaere, who capitalized on a brilliant pass from Raskin to find the net. The USA managed to equalize in the 31st minute with a goal from Malik Tillman.


Belgium quickly regained the lead, as Charles De Ketelaere scored his second goal in the 33rd minute with a superb header from a precise cross by Trossard, ending the first half with Belgium ahead 2-1.


In the second half, Hans Vanaken extended Belgium's lead by scoring the third goal in the 57th minute, taking advantage of a mistake by the USA goalkeeper. The fourth goal came in the 90+3 minute from Lukaku after a defensive error by the USA.


With this victory, Belgium advances to the quarterfinals of the 2026 World Cup, where they will face Spain, who reached the same stage after defeating Portugal 1-0 in the Round of 16.
